Winn in Grand Teton NP photo © Kim Erdkamp Winn Jewett grew up in New York City and fell in love with photography at Millbrook, a small boarding school in upstate NY. He taught himself HTML, the language of the internet, and spent his summers as a web developer for iVillage.com and MarthaStewart.com. Throughout high school, Winn continually pushed the limits of creativity by integrating his passion for photography with his technical aptitude. As a Junior, he was introduced to Stop-Action Photography by his physics teacher. In his final year at Millbrook, he combined hundreds of photos shot over the previous four years to create a single piece of art. He arranged each photograph according to its color the way a painter might choose just the right color for a single brush stroke. After boarding school, Winn moved to Colorado Springs and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colorado College. During his time there, Winn developed command over many of the technical subtleties of photography. His inquisitive mind along with his studies in physics led him to creative photographic ideas. He also continued to work as a web developer and explored the vast landscapes the West had to offer. Winn purchased his first professional digital camera body towards the end of his college career. He was able to achieve phenomenal results for most types of photography, but for landscapes, there just wasn't enough detail in his prints. He began using a stitching technique developed by Helmut Dersch to combine many individual photographs into one high resolution, seamless landscape. Some of Winn's landscapes shot in this manner can be printed 20 inches by 30 inches with absolutely zero loss in clarity and detail. When Pebble Beach Resorts in Pebble Beach, California needed to redesign their website, they hired Winn Jewett. The website served two purposes; the first was to be an information source for their three resorts, four golf courses and numerous restaurants, and the second was an online store. Winn developed a website control panel that gave the administrators of the site control over the content, layout and style of every single page - all 660 of them. Today, Winn combines his passion for style, technical ability and love of photography to offer a unique set of services from web design to all kinds of photography. He loves spending time at the Bear Creek Dog Park with his dog, Nahla where he is always available for an on-the-spot dog photo session.
